I was there when namath dropped by. My father was the president of the booster club and set it up. Linda Evans was with him. They were filming the movie Avalanche Express.

I remember that too. I was in elementary school then and we saw him in the cafeteria. My dad hated Ali because he was a draft dodger. Hell, he still hates him.

I was in elementary school in Frankfurt when Ali was in Munich. I remember cause he was in Stars & Stripes.

However, while I was in Munich working part-time at the McGraw Gym, I did meet several celebrities. Richard Dent of the Chicago Bears, his sister was one of my coworkers. They had a preseason game in England, and he came by our office to visit his little sister. Mike Golic, of the Philadelphia Eagles spent a summer working out at our Gym too.

Alex Stanisic, and I were on loan to the Mr. Munich body building championship, where we took tickets at the door, and were ushers. The event was held in 1986 in the newly renovated Munich Elementary auditorium/gym. I didn’t know much about the sport of Body building, when the organizer… Mark… I forget his last name… said to Alex and I, “When Lee Haney arrives be sure to escort him to the seats we have reserved for him up front,” I had to I ask: “Who’s Lee Haney?” Man you should have heard all the commotion and seen all of the weird looks from the body builders who were in earshot: “You don’t know who Lee Haney is…” Okay so he won Mr. Olympia twice *at the time*… Well EXCUSE ME! *laughing* Mark said, “You can’t miss him, he’s going to be the biggest African-American you’ve probably ever seen. As soon as everyone had left, Alex looked at me and said, “Man I’m glad you were the one who asked, cause I didn’t know who he was either!”
To make a long story short, when he arrived, Mark was right! He wasn’t that tall but um.. he was a big fella. He was bigger than the professional body builder, Mark had hired to pose for the amateur event. Mark had paid the German guy like 13,000 DM to pose. His claim to fame was that he was in training for the upcoming Mr. Olympia. He arrive early and setup in the dressing room under the stage. Where we had created a mini gym, so that all of the body builders could do a last minute pump up before they walked out on stage. You knew the minute Lee Haney arrived from the sound. You would have thought he was a rock star. Dressed in street clothes, he took his seat in front row and watched the event… and when the German guy had finished his pose down, Lee jumped up on stage, and began teasing the audience, as he unbuttoned his shirt. Standing next to the German pro, who was still on stage, you could easily see why Lee Haney was Mr. Olympia. He was not only huge, but also symmetrical. Lee Haney brought the house down. He hadn't even workout prior to posing! It was a great show. People talked about it for weeks.

He won Mr. Olympia later that year, and won every year through 1991, and is the only person to have one the event 8 times. Anybody know how many times Arnold one it?
