This falls under the category of "Holy Crap"...

In the winter of '96 I was skiing in Sun Valley, Idaho, and was warming up in the lodge bar at the end of a long day... when I saw someone who looked eerily familiar standing at the bar... I walked up and, lo and behold, it was Bob Zibell...!!!

He apparently owns several properties in Sun Valley and was there on vacation; I think he said that he actually lives in Michigan. We chatted for 10 or 15 minutes or so, and he was a pretty nice guy-- he did not cite 'Point of Order' one time! He looked EXACTLY PRECISELY the same as he had when I was a senior.

I actually took a picture, which I posted on one of the Yahoo clubs, as I recall, but I think that it is probably gone.

I just thought I would share that with you guys. He is actually one of EIGHT Munich people I have run into in random places since I came back in '85...!!

Rob, I think I saw that pic just within the last couple of weeks. I'll have to see if I can find it.

Nice Red Sox logo. That's what happens to kids who go to school here in Beantown.

And just to make some of you old baseball guys jealous, I'm going with my two boys tomorrow to throw batting practice to them at Fenway Park (under the center field bleachers). A guy in our neighborhood knows somebody who knew somebody and we've got a group of 15 kids and Dads to throw and take BP. I'm not sure if the kids or the Dads are more excited at this point!

And if there's enough interest...I may have Mr. Bill set up a Red Sox fan area on this board!!

Tony

Man, taking BP in The Holy of Holies... *drool*

I am always interested in talking about the Sox... living here in the Philly 'burbs, it's all about the Eagles (and I am gracious enough not to rub it in-- besides, after the glory of October, I could have cared less about the Patriots... don't get me wrong, I love the Pats, but they are just not the Sox...! ;)

April 3rd is coming! Here is my current desktop wallpaper (gets me in the mood):

YANKEES SUCK!!!

Cheers,

That's a good desktop, no doubt about it. The one I've seen with him carrying the (photo shopped) purse is a classic, as is the one with the hamburger helper gloves! I've got the on-field celebration as my desktop.

I was lucky enough to attend game one of the World Series and figured it would never get any better than that. It was very cool. We were sitting right in front of Pesky's Pole, about 30 rows up when Bellhorn clanked his HR off of it. The HR was great, but seeing the yellow paint fly off the foul pole when it hit was something to see. I'm just trying to enjoy this sports heaven for as long as possible!

I hear you about the Philly fans ( I work with some misguided Villanova grads)...I know enough of them to know I'm glad to be a NE fan!

I know we won't get the audience the Sons of Sam Horne site does, but I'm gonna talk to Mr. Bill about that Red Sox forum!!

Tony

Oh sure...nothing I'd like to do more than get pics of the old boys breaking out the mallets and kicking the old baseball around.

...um...I don't really follow baseball....

Tony:

Man oh man. I saw two games this year, one at Fenway, August 12th-- Petey (he's dead to me now) pitched a complete game shut out against the Devil Rays-- my 4.5-year-old's first big-league game! And a Saturday afternoon win the last series in Baltimore (Charles Street looked more like Comm Ave, about 75-25 Sox fans. The place was hopping. How did you score tickets?!

Yeah, I saw those photoshopped ones too, but I have the 'real thing' up to get me worked into a lather-- like a red flag to a bull! :) Bring 'em on!

Oh wait, weren't we talking about Zibby? Mebbe we should take this to the 'Take it Outside' folder... ;) We appear to have wandered a bit...

Now I have to go and watch the NESN DVD again... ;)

*smirk* Well, Tony, you could have phrased that a little differently, but yes, that is "my Zibby".
