According to Google Maps: 114 miles on the exact opposite side of DC from each other. So it sounds doable.

ok, maybe a little LESS detail! Latitude and longitude are not needed. Name of the nearby town? Something like that. Or is this an super secret, listening in on my phone calls, Area 51, Air Force thingy?

I don't know, it's your state! Pax River is a navy base, so it's near water. Does that help?

Hey. I've been there. It's very pretty actually...the Navy is sitting on real estate gold there. If they ever need some dough they could sell that rather than hold that bake sale I'm always reading about on the bumper stickers.

Anyway, Guy, seems like we ought to be able to work something out...114 ain't that much.

Still trying to decide if driving out makes sense. If I can justify that, then my route should take me through Frederick both ways. Unless you'd rather just plan to meet up somewhere else (DC?).
Anyway, I'll float the driving option and see if it holds water. See, I can toss about those nautical references when I have to.

meeting up sounds good...or I can head there if you think they'll let me on the base (i'm guessing not...I'm lucky they let me into DC) since if you fly in you probably won't have a car. There's not much to do in the surrounding area of the base as I recall...but it's been a while since I was down there...so DC might be the better idea...I hear they have some museums and restaurants in DC. Not sure though...I've been waiting for the fog to clear before heading down there.

Lemme know what works best for you.

OK, plans are starting to gel a little. T-Th are in Pax River. The plan is to fly down early enough on Monday the 19th (departs Dayton @ 1215) to hit a Smithsonian before the drive to Lexington Park (next to the base). If you want to meet then we can pick a place to have a beer while the rest of my party hits the museum.
Or I can fly out later than the others on Friday; they plan to catch a 10am flight back to sunny Ohio. I haven't checked my options for later flights, but there have to be some, right?
You have a preference? Or an alternate?
I haven't actually reserved anything yet.

Your Monday plan sounds like a good one...I've got a meeting on Friday...give me another day to verify the date at work just to make sure, but I think it's just fine.

Guy and Mr. Bill,

My brother John heads up to PAX on a pretty regular basis. You should check with him to see if he'll be up there for meetings.

It looks like I will be traveling to Annaheim for a conference September 28 - 30th. Don't know what my schedule will be yet, just checking if anyone is in this area.

Barb-

I am still in San Diego and Pam is is Vegas. Maybe we can figure out a way for us to meet up with you. We would both love to see ya. I will let you know more after I get back from the big Munich trip. At least we still have a chance to get together this year. :D

I'll be downtown Oct 3-5 for meetings and stuff...but the Marriott's got a bar if anyone's going to be skulking around later looking for something to do!

Hey folks...just a reminder about this thread...now that you've been re-acquainted with 200 of your new old friends from MAHS...if ever you're traveling, on the road....looking to share a schnitzel or a beer...don't forget to let folks know you might be in their neck of the woods.

It's looking like I'll be in Manhattan for a business meeting June 21-22 and then probably staying at least until the 23rd to visit a friend. Anyone want to get together for a drink?
