This is my mother. She was dedicated to all of her students. She loved teaching and especially loved Shakespeare. I lived very near to the Shakespeare museum in DC which she loved to attend when she visited me in DC. I remember her dragging me around England when I was in elementary school to the Bard's hangouts which completely bored me. She was ecstatic at the opportunity to tour England. Probably the best trip she ever had.
I remember her working on her masters in education. She busted her butt while working and trying to raise three kids. She was a hard worker and completed it on time. Her final presentation for her masters was a slide show she put together with AC/DC's Hells Bells in the background. It was masterfully done.
I have had former MAHS students tell me over the years that they learned much from my mother. Like many of the faculty brats, I watched her grade paper after paper. There were stacks everywhere. It is a truly unappreciated profession considering how much teachers impact every day lives. I am considering changing to the profession too. I want to bring my years of experience to the classroom. I want my students to learn from my experience. I am getting some subbing time in to see if it is what I want. Considering I was such a hellion at times in school, I am not sure I want to deal with someone that mirrored my behavior.
Anyways, Mrs. Cobey would probably be retired by now if she was alive today and still reading Shakespeare. She absolutely loved reading horror. I myself can't stand it nor watching horror movies. Guess I am a big scaredy cat. With her husband, Mr. Cobey, she'd be touring Europe with their little trailer in tow. She was a fan of the mountains too and loved to be out in nature. I think she loved being in Europe more than in the US.
Rest in peace Mom. We didn't have enough time together.

I do not think I ever had a teacher more patient with a "lousy" student like me. Mrs Cobey taught me that I could write poetry and that is something that has stuck with me since 1984 I love poetry I have books and collections. I have audio books of poetry collections.
That is what I will always remember her for. Is the love and attention she always showed us. (again even us lousy students) I took my GED in 84 or 85 and left Munich and poetry has always been there for me like an old friend and has got me through some rough times.
I remember some of her stories she would tell us.
She was a great teacher and is not someone I will ever forget.
Thank You you are one teacher I know went to heaven.
