Roger just sent in a whole bushel of current photos -- some really interesting ones that I think need some exposition...especially the one with His Holiness...so, Roger...have at it!

Weeellll,
1. Great Wall of China. Working trip with Secretary of State. Had half a day to drive like hell out of Beijing and find a part of the wall. Cool place.
2. Roger consuming prohibited substance in a combat zone, courtesy of my British colleagues (it's a Heineken hidden in a tin cup).
3. At a Cairene German restaurant (go figger) on Oktoberfest night. Hey, it was worth free beer all night long!
4. Worked on security detail for Dalai Lama for almost three weeks. He's a great guy! Loved my mustache, would reach up and pull on the hairs whenever we were together. Other than that, the monks wanted me to try on the robes, said I already had the haircut for it. So I've got that giong for me, which is nice...
5-6. Doing stuff I probably ought not have been doing in and around parts of Iraq.
7. My brother Lloyd and I at his commissioning ceremony.

Roger!

So great to see you - and doing so many very cool things as well! Really looking forward to seeing you and catching up in April.

Gunga la gunga.

When I read, "So I got that going for me..." coffee almost came out my nose...

Roger,

Is the Dalai Lama really a big hitter like Bill Murray said or has he slowed down some?

Seriously though, that is really cool.

Chris

I agree...Caddyshack has made quite a resurgence on the board of late.

Great shots...I've always thought it was cool when I read that the Dalai Lama had such a great sense of humor, the fact that he pulled on your mustache sort of reaffirms that.

I'd go out on a limb here and say that things might be a bit better in the world if more people playfully pulled on each others mustaches. But maybe that's just me.

He IS a big hitter! Slow wind up, smooth swing, everything zen.

He got in a foot race in the SLC airport with some of the agents, so he hasn't slowed down too much. He's a big joker, always laughing. He really did get a hoot out of my mustache. How can you remain professional when you have a seventy something year old re-incarnated deity tugging at your facial hairs and giggling?

There's a picture I remember of an event where the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu are in attendence and, out on the lawn afterwards His Holiness snatches the bishop's hat and is playing keep away with it. It was such a great shot.

And really, if your reincarnated deity plays keep away with a bishop's hat, you know you've got the right deity I think.

Looks like we have visited some of the same parts of the world in the years since I last saw you, although I haven't had the opportunity to "touch and giggle" with the Dalai.

Where are you located now? I have just recently moved back to the DC area from the West Coast.
