??? A word like that can only come from the fecund mind of Ralph Smith, Bobby Kelley, or Vicki Schneider. If I were a betting man, I would guess Bobby Kelley.

A quote from page 94 of the 1984 Mnemonic...

"I, Ralph Smith, being of sound body and instable mind, bequeath onto the following: To Foore (aka Slampwak), a pink Steinberger and effects."

Apparently, you had a clue about it then...

I thought of another candidate for somebody who coulda come up with a word like that: David Webber...

Probably lost to the mists of time... and for the better.

"more impotent than a speeding locomotive..."
The mere mention of the name David Webber brings that phrase to mind, for some reason. That, and "you ain't funny, man!"

Chris, I'm certain that whatever was attributed to me lo these many years ago had to be a typo or something. Honestly..."slampwak"?!? I mean, come on.

When I think of Webber: "That guy is a crack of sh*t!" (sic)

There are certain people who have a way with language; Dave was right up there with Pauly Shore. ;)

any of you planning to come to the reunion?
ralph & chris--what is all this about? by the way, i saw david webber a few years after HS. he had become a jehovah's witness and told me he didn't remember much of HS due to being "baked" all the time. he seemed like he was doing well. IF we're talking about the same david webber.

Jojo,

Apparently in the 1984 yearbook my senior quote refers to Rob 4 as "slampwak" or something (haven't seen my yearbook in years -- must retrieve it from my parents' basement). "Slampwak" isn't a particularly witty term, doesn't seem to reference anything, and I can't for the life of me recall where it came from. I maintain I had written something else, and it was messed up at the printers.

Regarding David Webber -- yes, he is one and the same. Irrepressible, he. When David was "baked," he was eminently quotable. I, too, saw him some years later, upon his return from Watts and after his conversion. Although I tried to avoid the "hard sell," it was good to see he had cleaned up his act.

I had a number of nicknames back then, and 'Slampwak' was not the most uncharitable. ;)

Thanks for the compliment about our collective appearance, JoJo. "I eat right, get plenty of rest, and take Geritol every day."
